Father
and husband by day, improvisational comic and emcee by night, and the
self-proclaimed "King of Pop Culture." This is the MyZ entertainment
reporter, Joe Wallace.
A 33
year old Charleston native, Joe has spent much of his life exploring the often
wacky world of Americana. A self-taught student of film, television, music and
most things immaterial, Joe has immersed himself into the Charleston theater
community. A veteran of more than 50 theatrical productions, including
performances in Greensboro, NC while attending Guilford College, Joe spends
much of his time in rehearsals for whatever show is up next. Also, since 2001,
Joe has served as the Artistic Director for The No Pants Players, West
Virginia's premiere improv comedy troupe.
When
not in production, Joe is often found in one of two places: relaxing at home
with his wife of 2 years, Michele, and his new son, Nathaniel, born in June of
2006, or in a movie theater. Joe prides himself on seeing an average of 120
films a year in theaters, many of which he writes reviews of, mostly for his
own pleasure and to hear himself talk. In addition, his personal home video
library is over 2000 movies strong and growing.
Of course, Joe is probably best known for his duties as the "King
of Pop Culture." Ask him anything about movies, TV, celebrities or
American pop culture and you'll likely receive a 10-part thesis on the history
of the question and its relevance to modern civilization. Once he's finished,
you may not have the answer to your question, but you'll think you did.
